Patience
"A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly." Proverbs 14:29
Rachel set the group thinking of times where we will have to pop the patience pill and we all agreed that waiting for the bus makes us really impatient. There were other answers like having to teach younger ones about something we know well (opps! *guilty*), having to wait for friends who are not punctual and when playing sports. We also shared instances where someone launched a verbal attack on us and how situations could have been improved if the other party were more patient.
We read the parable on The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24) and we all agreed that another appropriate title for the story would be The Parable of The Patient Father. Ethan described the father in this story as "THE BEST DADDY IN THE WORLD!" How apt. Samuel shared in verse 20 that the father did not wait for his son to walk to the house but saw him from a distance and RAN towards his son. Like wise, God is always chasing after us. And God anticipates our coming back after we have strayed.
We also learnt "When patient runs out, watch out! Someone is going to get hurt." so we should all be careful when we get impatient and frustrated because we would say things that cannot be retrieved. Psalm 103:8 says: "The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love." Let's all be like Christ, who has been so patient with us. What more we be patient to others?
At the end, all of us shared bout something in our lives we need to be patient about and our prayer requests for these 2 weeks.
